Northern Lights Dojo
Cuong Nhu Martial Arts

Costs of Membership:
We are a State of Michigan nonprofit educational organization run by volunteer instructors, and none of our instructors are paid - we do it for the love of the art and to serve the community. As such, we are able to keep our monthly tuition donations extremely affordable, and in our 40+ years, we have never turned away a student for lack of ability to pay.
If you are unable to afford these suggested amounts, you can speak to the head of school to find a monthly tuition donation amount that is reasonable for your current circumstances. Tuition waivers in exchange for assistance with projects at the dojo are also an option.
Monthly tuition donations:
$50 per month for adults
$35 per month for kids, students, & seniors
After the first person, it is only $25 per extra family member. Also, we cap this to allow for larger families that want to share this experience together, so the maximum monthly donation amount for the kids' class is $75 and adult class or a mixed kids/adults family maximum is $90).
All tuition, donations, and other payments such as for uniforms and gear can be made with cash, checks payable to Northern Lights Cuong Nhu, or to our Venmo account: @NLCuongNhu
Other fees:
1. Annual Membership to the Northern Lights Martial Arts Center, due upon joining and then annually in January. This fee covers our insurance and other administrative and operating expenses.
-
$35/year for children up to 13 years old
-
$50/year for all members 14 years and older
2. Annual National Membership to Cuong Nhu Martial Arts Association (CNOMA). This is payable directly to the association online at cuongnhu.com and is due before your first rank test (usually after 3-4 months) and then each year at the date of your original enrollment:
-
$40 individual
-
$65 family
3. A uniform (gi). This is also needed by your first test (after approximately 2-3 months). We provide these at near-wholesale costs to our students, sharing costs of shipping and rounding up the change as a donation to the dojo. Standard prices are:
-
$20 for kids
-
$40 for adults
This includes a belt and patch and is for a lightweight material (6-8 oz.), and average sizes. Heavyweight uniforms and/or extra large sizes will cost a bit more (ask an instructor for details).
